Barbour was founded by John Barbour in 1894 in South Shields, a city in the north-east of England. “J.Barbour & Sons, Tailors and Drapers” will primarily produce waterproof coats and jackets, suitable for protecting local fishermen and sailors from the bad weather of the British climate. Barbour, today, represents the distinctly English elegance of men and women who prefer and still defend the figure of the gentleman in shirt and knitwear.
